I started my teaching career in a high school U.S. History classroom. In 2014, I joined the PJHS eighth-grade history department where I teach both general and advanced courses. I served as an Alabama History Day Master Teacher and was recognized in 2020 as the Alabama Nominee for the National History Day Junior Division Patricia Behring Award. I was awarded Prattville Junior High School Teacher of the Year 2019-2020 and Alexander Shunnarah Teacher of the Month for December 2022. In December 2022, I also completed my Ph.D. in History Education. My dissertation focused on middle level learning and engagement in the World History classroom.
My teaching style is inspired by a quote from historian and educator David McCullough, "[n]o harm's done to history by making it something someone would want to read." I look forward to making this an engaging and exciting year for your student at Prattville Junior High School. Go Cats!
