Bio

This is my 17th year to teach at Prattville Junior High.  I have been teaching in Autauga County since 1997, and I am hoping for many more years here.  I went to Leeds High School and graduated from Auburn University. I went back to school at AUM for my Master's of Education in 1990 and have had various professional development courses since.  I have two children that are products of Autauga County schools, too, and they both live and work in New York.  My daughter, Laura, is married to a wonderful man, Dan Schnur, from New York, she works for Marc Fisher shoes in Connecticut.  My son, Matthew, works for the Arts and Entertainment Channel computer programs in New York as well.  My son lives in Astoria and my daughter and her husband live in upstate NY.

I went back to Space Camp in Huntsville for the first time in over 20 years this summer!  I did the activities including the zipline into water and I survived!  Later this summer, I went to my favorite place - which is the Dauphin Island Sea Lab in south Alabama.  I learned how to bring art back into the classroom along with science - and it was really awesome.  When I wasn't at a workshop - I was teaching drones at the Montgomery YMCAs with Starbase from Maxwell Air Force Base.

This is my second year to teach the STEM elective after 10 years in 8th grade Physical Science and Life Science in 7th grade before.  I am looking forward to seeing the new students this year and the wonderful activities we will be doing.  In addition, Starbase will be meeting on Thursdays after school for Drone and computer lessons.
